We first met Chris and Anna in August of 2010.   They were referred to us by a friend at their church, where they were serving as youth pastors for the teen’s YouthQuake Ministries. We could tell right away they were an awesome couple, and we knew we would enjoy working with them. They wanted the most FUN wedding reception, in the history of wedding receptions! Over the next ten months we met several times for lunch, dinner or coffee (Anna loves coffee as much as I do) and discussed how we could personalize different parts of their reception to fit their own personalities.

We worked as a team early on and all the planning was done. Now it was time for a stress free wedding reception. Chris & Anna’s guest arrived at Greenville Country Club around 3:30pm. They enjoyed appetizers, some upbeat cocktail music and had way too much fun with the Out Of This World Open Air Photo Booth while Photographer Ginny Corbett finished up a few more shots at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greenville, NC.

As soon as Chris, Anna, their family & friends/wedding party arrived, it was time for their fun & personalized wedding party introductions. This was when each member of the wedding party could shine as the true stars they are. It was a blast and set the tone for the rest of the afternoon!

Chris and Anna’s first dance was a “special mix” made by the Newlyweds. The Father Daughter Dance was “The Way You Look Tonight/Anna” by Frank Sinatra/Arthur Alexander. The Mother Son Dance was “Let Them Be Little” by Billy Dean. Other highlights were a very special bouquet and garter toss as well as a stuffed animal toss for the kids.

I first got to know Brittany back in the Summer of 2004 when we worked together at my family owned roadside vegetable stand. It didn’t take long for me to see that her pretty smile and bubbly personality was a great asset to the business.

It was several years later when I had the honor of meeting her boyfriend, Kevin. Shortly after, I received a call from them announcing their engagement and asking me if I could DJ and Emcee their up-coming wedding reception. We scheduled a meeting and started the planning process.

On our first meeting, they told me about their family and friends that made up their wedding party. We put it all together for a truly “one of a kind” personalized wedding party introductions, which was not to be revealed until the Brittany and Kevin’s wedding reception as their family, friends and guest (all 450 of them) cheered and laughed as they were introduced as the “Kissing Bandit”, Kevin’s “Man Husband” and the Power couple to name a few. Brittany and Kevin made their grand entrance into the reception held at Hamstead Acres between Snow Hill and La Grange, North Carolina and onto the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife to Aqualung’s “Brighter Than Sunshine.” With twenty seconds left in the song, the music began to skip and scratch only to reveal the whole wedding party joining them in the dance for a choreographed “Rock The Reception Dance” to Michael Jackson’s “ The Way You Make Me Feel”.

Other highlights of the night included Brittany’s dance with her Dad to James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is” and Kevin’s dance with his Mom to the Globetrotter’s “Rainy Day Bells”.

Their custom monogrammed light shining “Brittany & Kevin” on the ceiling was a huge hit with the newlyweds as well as their guests.

The night came to an end around midnight with the last dance “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life” and a grand exit with sparklers and a horse drawn carriage by Dixie Carriages.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Amber and Adam as they grew up from teenagers to young adults. Through the years, I was the DJ for some of their 1st “dance parties” at 13, then all the “sweet sixteen dance parties,” their high school proms and their engagement party. So it was only fitting for me to help make their wedding reception OUT OF THIS WORLD.

As Adam & Amber guest arrived at Farmville Country Club, they enjoyed appetizers and classic Carolina Beach music and “oldies but goodies” love songs while Photographer Eric Jones finished up some amazing shots at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church after the wedding. As soon as Amber, Adam, their family & friends/wedding party arrived, the wedding was kicked up a notch or two for the personal introductions or you could say roasting of the wedding party. Amber & Adam spent a lot of time providing me with detailed information at our 1st meeting at La Flama Restaurant in Farmville over dinner.

For our 2nd & 3rd meeting at my home they gave me even more, in a casual & stress free planning setting that seemed more like hanging out with friends than work.

All this planning made for some great & personal introductions that set the pace for the rest of the night. Amber, Adam, and their wedding party worked just as hard on their “Rock the reception” dance which in one word was AMAZING. Amber & Adam’s 1st dance was Kenny Chesney’s “Me & You” The Father Daughter dance and Mother Son dance were “You Decorated My Life” and “Because You Loved Me.”   The bridal party’s official song was Ja Rule’s “Put It On Me.” Ring bearer, Shawn’s “knock knock joke” (orange banana) was hilarious.

It was an honor to work with such a great group of people. Thanks Amber & Adam for an awesome night.
