American Disc Jockey Association
ADJA: Charlotte, NC – Press Release
Charlotte, NC Chapter Wins National Recognition
Local Association Named Chapter of the Year
Charlotte, NC – February 15,2010- Disc Jockey entertainers from across the nation converged on Las Vegas, Nevada last week for the annual Mobile Beat DJ convention. When festivities wound down, the Charlotte NC chapter of the American Disc Jockey Association had been recognized as the 2009 Chapter of the Year.
Charlotte ADJA Founder and Past President Brian Hines said many elements contributed to the prestigious award. “Although the chapter is approaching just it’s 2nd year of existence, ADJA members have already been privy to a nationally-recognized industry speakers such as Mike Walter, Troy Ackerman, Peter Merry, Scott Faver and National ADJA President Dr. Drax. These speakers along with other local, regional and national representatives spoke on a wide range of informative topics to enhance the efficiency and profitability of DJ entertainers in the Tarheel State.”
In announcing the award, National ADJA Secretary Brian Graham recognized the Charlotte chapter for the successful hosting of the Mobile Beat Summer Tour. The road show, meant as a pre-cursor mini-convention of last week’s Las Vegas event, came to Charlotte in August and drew more than 100 area DJs for seminars, gear demonstrations and networking. Organizers of the Mobile Beat Tour say the Charlotte ADJA chapter was “the grand champion among all chapters, drawing more attendees than any other stop”.
Graham said the Charlotte chapter was also instrumental in 2009′s National Association of Catering Executives Convention held last summer at the Westin. Founder and Past President Brian Hines served on the NACE Planning Committee while other Charlotte chapter ADJA members served as seminar facilitators. For the first time ever, NACE opted to utilize DJ entertainment for their closing gala. ADJA member Mark Pezzela and Five-Star Entertainment’s impressive presentation of sound, lighting and video had NACE members packing the dance floor through the group’s grand finale.
In addition to hosting these events, members of the ADJA Charlotte chapter meet each month to network and increase their awareness of cutting-edge trends and technology through seminars and equipment demonstrations.
In Las Vegas to accept the 2009 Chapter of the Year award for the Charlotte ADJA were Founder & Past President Brian Hines, Current Vice President Steven Dail and ADJA Member Mark Pezzela.
The Charlotte Chapter of the ADJA meets on the third Tuesday of each month January thru November at the Sports Connection (Ballantyne Location) 11611 Ardrey Kell Road. the meeting begins at 6:30 with networking with DJs and other professionals. Presentations begin promptly at 7 PM and usually conclude at 9PM, but never later than 9:15PM.
You may attend two ADJA meetings with no obligation of joining. Non-members are required to pay $20 per person per meeting to offset venue and speaker costs.
